36848181_lAt the Automotive Industry Component Manufacturer Association (ACMA) Summit organised in Pune, India, Mr Ganga Charan Sharma, Vice President – Supply Chain Audits for IMEA region, represented TÜV Rheinland to share his expertise on supply chain sustainability in the automotive industry. The theme of the two-day expo was “Transforming to Stay Competitive”. Mr. Sharma expounded on sustainability fundamentals such as the triple bottom line (economic, environment, social) approach and its relevance in the context of automotive supply chain.

“The over USD 50 billion Indian automotive component industry is growing at a rapid rate of around 18% under the Make in India initiative, and provides employment to around 3 million Indians, both directly and indirectly within the automotive supply chain. It is imperative that automotive supply chains address burning issues such as environment pollution, climate change, GHG emission and labour standards, and play a vital role in the fulfilment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, stated Mr. Sharma during the summit.
