The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) has authorized further TÜV Rheinland laboratories to test electrical products for the South African market. Manufacturers or exporters can now obtain proof directly from TÜV Rheinland's electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing laboratories in Nuremberg (Germany), Shanghai and Taipei that their products meet all electromagnetic compatibility requirements in accordance with South African regulations. In April 2018 the SABS had already authorized the EMC laboratory of TÜV Rheinland in Yokohama (Japan) accordingly.

“We are happy to expand our South Africa service portfolio. Manufacturers and distributors of electrical products worldwide can now apply directly to TÜV Rheinland for the approvals required for South Africa and the associated testing of electrical products”, explains Claus Draga, expert for international product approvals at TÜV Rheinland. “Besides the ‘NRCS (National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications) Letter of Authority (LoA) on product safety’ and the ‘SABS EMC Certificate of Compliance' we now offer EMC-testing in Asia and Europe as a further module. Clients thus have an additional option, besides EMC-testing at local South African labs.”

TÜV Rheinland’s experts for market access explain which approval steps are relevant for a particular product – worldwide, at the nearest TÜV Rheinland location.
