TÜV Rheinland Has Been Appointed Indonesia’s Accredited Testing Laboratory for Automotive Wheel Products (L Category)

In a recent announcement by the Ministry of Industry, Republic of Indonesia, TÜV Rheinland Indonesia has been appointed as an accredited testing laboratory for wheel products in L category for motorcycle or vehicles with less than four wheels. The laboratory, located in Infinia Park Blok 92-93 Jl Dr Sahardjo No 45 Jakarta, is now accredited to apply and supervise the mandatory of National Standard of Indonesian (SNI) for the specific product. This appointment is effective since September 12th, 2017.

 

Indonesia’s Focus on Vehicle Quality and Safety

Based on data from the Ministry of Transportation, 9 percent of traffic accidents happening in 2017 is due to lack of quality of vehicle elements. For instance, the wheel is identified as one of the most important safety critical components. Meanwhile, the rapidly growing population in Indonesia is driving demand for rapid, reliable, and above all, safe transportation. TÜV Rheinland Indonesia is committed to apply its expertise in testing, inspection, and certification in ensuring safety on the road in Indonesian market. And the appointment by the Ministry of Industry recognises TÜV Rheinland Indonesia’s mission on that matter.

A Commitment to Excellence in Testing

The laboratory is managed by professional engineers and are equipped with advance testing machine. For wheel testing and inspection, the laboratory provides a Radial Fatigue Test Machine for Rim Rolling Test. This is a fatigue test that allows the evaluation of a rolling wheel’s resistance under a load condition to demonstrate the strength sufficiency of the rim. More than 250 SNI certificates have been released for wheel and tire manufactures.

TÜV Rheinland has been active in Indonesian market since 1980. After establishing office in Jakarta in 1996, TÜV Rheinland Indonesia has launched agreement business for homologation for automotive components in 1998 and received accreditation from KAN for SNI certification (LSPr-026) in 2009. Three years later, TÜV Rheinland Indonesia established an electricity safety lab and wheel laboratory in 2012. Recently, it also launched the first independent tire testing laboratory in Indonesia, located in Taman Tekno BSD, South Tangerang.
