TÜV Rheinland is expanding its inspection business in Scandinavia and acquired certification company BMG Trada in Gothenburg, Sweden. The company has been active on the Scandinavian market as a partner of TÜV Rheinland for almost 20 years now and specializes in the certification of management systems for quality as well as environmental and health protection. “BMG Trada has many years of experience on the market, while TÜV Rheinland offers a broad portfolio for the certification of management systems. Companies in Scandinavia can now reap even greater benefits from this,” said Michael Weppler, Executive Vice President of Systems at TÜV Rheinland. The focus of Swedish certification company BMG Trada was until now on certification according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. The plan now is to expand this range.

Per Davidson, Founder and Managing Director of BMG Trada: “Business in virtually every industry is now international in nature. In the future, our customers will benefit from the global network of TÜV Rheinland and the associated knowhow.” Davidson will remain as Managing Director to continue the successful partnership with the Swedish team at TÜV Rheinland.

In 2018, the Systems business stream at TÜV Rheinland generated revenues of €213 million, with most of this related to the certification of management systems. Roughly 2,500 specially qualified auditors are employed at TÜV Rheinland worldwide.

Since 2017, TÜV Rheinland has been represented in Sweden with its national subsidiary, specializing in the testing of electronic products at the Lund location. The TÜV Rheinland laboratory in Lund tests products in accordance with a range of international wireless and radio standards such as Bluetooth, Zigbee and Sigfox. Like BMG Trada, the TÜV Rheinland laboratory was audited and accredited as a certification institution by the Swedish Board for Accreditation and Conformity Assessment (SWEDAC).
