TÜV Rheinland’s Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Laboratory in Thang Long Industrial Park II, in Hung Yen Province, has been accredited according to ISO 17025 by Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology to test household appliances, information technology equipment (ITE), industrial equipment, scientific equipment and medical devices. It has also been recognized by the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ) as an EMC testing laboratory for CR mark certification of household appliances.

The accredited laboratory will help local firms demonstrate that products aimed at the Vietnam market conform to the EMC requirements stipulated in Circular No. 11/2012/TT-BKHCN and in National Technical Regulation QCVN 9:2012/BKHCN, and that they are eligible to carry the CR mark.

“The recognition of TÜV Rheinland’s EMC laboratory is good news for the household products industry. Manufacturers of electrical appliances in Vietnam now have access to a reliable partner with a state-of-the-art facility that offers a wide scope of EMC services ranging from QC testing to product certification – for both local and global markets”, said Mr. Frank Juettner, Managing Director of TÜV Rheinland Vietnam.

Household product categories that require EMC certification for Vietnam market include instantaneous water heaters, hand-held electric drills, vacuum cleaners, washing machines, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and self-ballasted lamps. The applicable EMC tests include the measurement of terminal disturbance voltage, disturbance power and radiated disturbances.

TÜV Rheinland Vietnam’s EMC laboratory, which was opened in early 2016, covers 1,000 m2 of floor space. Key features of the facility include a 10 meter semi-anechoic chamber, a shielded room, and a pulse immunity testing room. The laboratory focuses on emission, immunity and radio testing, and can provide full EMC conformity assessment service for various categories of electrical products.
