TÜV Rheinland Launches First Independent TireTesting Laboratory in Indonesia

The facilities supports the Indonesian government's initiatives to boost industrial competitiveness and reduce road accidents.

In a move that promotes road safety and tire manufacturing quality, TÜV Rheinland opened the first independent tire testing laboratory in Indonesia. The facility is fully certified by the Indonesia National Accreditation Body (KAN), and is qualified to provide tire testing and approval services for passenger car, truck, bus, and motorcycle tires for compliance with the latest national and international standards.

By investing in premises and people in Indonesia, TÜV Rheinland supports the Indonesian Ministry of Transport and the automotive industry in the joint goal of producing safe, high quality and standards compliant products. “The opening of the TÜV Rheinland tire testing facility is a reflection of the long-term growth potential of the Indonesian tire market. It will support the industry’s tire quality goals and ensure that specifications meet the standards and regulations set by the Indonesian government. We wish TÜV Rheinland every success and warmly welcome the launch of this facility,” said Pascal Nouvellon, Managing Director of PT Michelin Indonesia.

International Recognition

The tire testing laboratory has capabilities to serve customers in testing products and services, while ensuring reliable implementation of international standards for quality and safety. The brand is synonymous with superior quality and laboratory best practices, as TÜV Rheinland is designated by authorities in Germany (KBA), Luxemburg (SNCH), the Netherlands (RDW), Ireland (NSAI), Indonesia (KAN), Malaysia (JPJ), and Brazil (Inmetro) to perform testing in accordance to various international standards. TÜVRheinland test reports are also voluntarily recognized and accepted in many other countries and regions, enabling customers to select the approval that best fits their needs.

Tire Testing Laboratory Capabilities

Located at Taman Tekno BSD IX Sector, South Tangerang, the new tire testing laboratory has 530 m2 total floor space, and is run by professional engineers and expert staff. The tire testing capabilities of the lab are comprehensive and in compliance with tire testing standards such as Indonesia SNI 0098, 0099 and 0100 for passenger car, light truck and light bus, SNI 0101 for motorcycle, UN ECE-R30, R54 and R75, Japan JIS D4230, and Brazil Inmetro R165 and R205, among other standard-setting bodies.For customers planning to expand into new markets but are not aware of the applicable regulations, TÜV Rheinland provides local testing to reduce time-to-market and ensure timely certification. In turn, this improves local tire production and strengthens export capacity. Likewise, the facility can also test tires imported into the local market.
