The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is moving towards making renewable energies the primary source of power in the region.

As such, they are establishing the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is expected to generate over 1 GW of photovoltaics and 700 MW of concentrated solar power. To ensure the success of this 11 billion Euros project, DEWA required a partner who could provide strong research and development support, including reliable PV measurement technologies for an outdoor solar testing site in the desert.

They chose to work with TÜV Rheinland, who helped by developing, installing and commissioning the measurement systems and technologies required for the project; supplying the hard- and software required to benchmark more than 128 PV modules from a variety of testing angles; and carrying out training, maintenance and calibration services for the team.
