The recently concluded National Occupational Safety and Health Congress (NOSH) organized by the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay Philippines was anchored on the theme “Vision 1 Million: Be an OSH Champion.”
This congress, a biennial forum where occupational safety and health practitioners from all over the country may share best practices and renew their commitment to workers’ safety and health seeks to emphasize the importance of occupational safety and health champions in promoting the Occupational Safety and Health Culture in the Philippines.
According to the OHSC, increasing the number of occupational safety and health champions to a million will facilitate compliance of enterprises to the OSH standards, inspire workers to be vigilant against workplace hazards, and spread the value of OSH to families and communities.
A safe and healthy workplace does not only protect employees from possible injuries and illnesses but can also help lower costs associated to accidents, reduce absenteeism and turn over, increases productivity and quality and raises employee morale. In addition, it helps reduce sick pay costs, insurance costs and penalties associated from non-compliance to occupational safety and health practices.
“Through the implementation of TŰV Rheinland safe workplace and policy, we are positive that there will be an initial advancement in promoting a zero (0) injuries and accidents in parallel to TUV Rheinland Mission.
