Workplace Health Risk Assessment (HRA) adalah kegiatan yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi potensi bahaya di tempat kerja serta menganalisis tingkat risiko yang ditimbulkan bagi tenaga kerja maupun orang lainnya yang berada di tempat kerja. HRA termasuk dalam bagian integral upaya keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja dan merupakan langkah awal untuk menciptakan lingkungan dan aktivitas kerja yang aman dan sehat.
Pengenalan sumber bahaya potensial (hazard) dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai metode. Beberapa hazard bersifat obvious atau dapat dengan mudah dikenali. Contoh seperti ini banyak ditemukan di kelompok industri risiko tinggi. Hazard lainnya tidak tampak jelas sehingga perlu diidentifikasi melalui analisis dokumen maupun penilaian aktivitas kerja sehari-hari. Lebih jauh lagi, karakteristik tenaga kerja pun perlu menjadi pertimbangan dalam identifikasi hazard.
Dalam era pandemi, pengenalan hazard berperan penting dalam upaya pencegahan dan pengendalian transmisi COVID-19 di tempat kerja, terutama dalam kaitannya dengan kualitas udara dalam ruangan (indoor air quality/IAQ). Beberapa faktor IAQ ditemukan berhubungan dengan risiko penularan COVID-19. Misalnya, sebagian faktor memiliki dampak secara langsung terhadap kemampuan virus bertahan hidup. Faktor lainnya mempengaruhi karakteristik aerosol, droplet, dan partikulat yang dapat menjadi agen penyebaran virus. Beberapa faktor IAQ lain secara tidak langsung dapat mempengaruhi kerentanan tenaga kerja terhadap COVID-19, misalnya dengan memicu penurunan sistem imunitas maupun sistem pertahanan saluran napas.
Dengan adanya risiko ini, pengukuran IAQ merupakan strategi yang efektif dalam mencegah transmisi dan terbentuknya klaster COVID-19 di tempat kerja. Terlebih lagi, dalam rangka persiapan kembali ke tempat kerja, pengukuran IAQ dan HRA secara umum menjadi langkah penting yang perlu disertakan dalam skema return to office. HRA yang berkualitas akan memberikan panduan bagi perusahaan untuk merancang upaya pengendalian COVID-19 dan upaya kesehatan kerja yang tepat sasaran dan cost-efficient.

Health Risk Assessment during COVID-19 Era
Workplace Health Risk Assessment (HRA) is an activity that aims to identify potential hazards in the workplace and analyze the level of risk posed to workers and other people in the workplace. HRA is an integral part of occupational safety and health efforts and is the first step to create a safe and healthy work environment.
The identification of potential hazard sources can be done by various methods. Some hazards are obvious or easily recognizable. Examples like this are often found in high-risk industry groups. Other hazards are not obvious and need to be identified through document analysis and assessment of daily work activities. Furthermore, the characteristics of the workforce also need to be considered in hazard identification.
In the pandemic, the introduction of hazards plays an important role in preventing and controlling the transmission of COVID-19 in the workplace, especially in relation to indoor air quality (IAQ). Several IAQ factors were found to be associated with the risk of COVID-19 transmission. For example, some factors have a direct impact on the virus's ability to survive. Other factors affect the characteristics of aerosols, droplets, and particulates that can be agents of virus spread. Several other IAQ factors can indirectly affect the vulnerability of the workforce to COVID-19, for example by triggering a decrease in the immune system and respiratory defense system.
Given this risk, IAQ measurement is an effective strategy in preventing the transmission and formation of COVID-19 clusters in the workplace. Moreover, in preparation for returning to the workplace, the measurement of IAQ and HRA in general is an important step that needs to be included in the return to office scheme. A high quality HRA will provide guidance for companies to design efforts to control COVID-19 and work health efforts that are accurate and cost-efficient.
