Our first run of the Data Protection Officer (TÜV) including the EU GDPR training was successfully completed July 30 - August 3, 2018 in Beijing, China. A total of 13 participants took part in the 5-day training and certification program, the result of close cooperation between TÜV Rheinland Greater China and TÜV Rheinland Philippines.
The course was facilitated by Dr. Nelson J. Celis, a Filipino expert in Strategic Management, E-Governance/Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Information Security Management System, Business Process Management, Systems Audit, Project Management, Business Continuity Management, and Data Privacy Act and EU GDPR.
The following topics were covered in the training program: overview rights of data subjects, duties of the data controller/processor, transfer of data to third countries, assignment of recitals to GDPR articles; list of processing activities; template data protection obligation letter; corrigendum to the General Data Protection Regulation of 27/10/2016; minimum level of specialized knowledge required of a data protection officer; breach of data protection and fines for companies pursuant to the GDPR.
The legal requirements in the area of data protection (e.g. EU GDPR, Act to Adapt Data Protection Law to EU Regulation), the rights and responsibilities of data protection representatives and the components of an efficient data protection management system are covered.
Personnel Certification is the proof of verified competence of experts in an organization. After completing a course recognized by TÜV Rheinland and passing exams set by the TÜV Rheinland personnel certification body, successful candidates receive a certificate that is valid for three years. The certification scheme will assure companies that the DPOs they designate are not just competent, but also fully qualified.
