Photovoltaic technology has undergone a tremendous transformation over the last few decades particularly in increased efficiency, lower system prices and PV technology adapted to various areas of application. New installation markets have emerged, while pressure to further reduce prices and improve the functionality of system components has intensified. The need to accurately predict and assess the performance, reliability, and durability of entire PV power plants has become critical.

Inverters and converters are the most integral part of conventional and renewable power systems. As competition in the renewable energy industry grows, companies strive to ensure their photovoltaic inverters and converters are safe, functional and compliant with relevant standards. TÜV Rheinland offers the widest range of market access services for PV inverters, helping customers to access all PV installation markets based on their requirements.

TÜV Rheinland India’s photovoltaic testing Bangalore laboratory has been recognized by the major certification body, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), under the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS), to conduct testing of power converters and interconnected PV inverters. The BIS recognition enables PV manufactures to comply with BIS CRS requirements and per the order, Solar Photovoltaics, Systems, Devices, and Components Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2017 to introduce safer products to the consumers in India. TÜV Rheinland, an independent technical service provider that has been operating in India since 1996, also offers independent engineers and technical advisors for PV investors and developers in the South Asian country.

Manufacturers of power converters and interconnected PV inverters, modules and batteries are required to apply for registration from BIS after getting their product tested from a BIS-recognized lab. BIS registers manufacturer under its CRS and allows them to declare their products to confirm as per Indian Standards.

As a global testing, inspection, certification provider, TÜV Rheinland supports the cause for safe products to the consumers in India. Our state-of-the-art Photovoltaic Laboratory in Bangalore is well equipped to test power converters and interconnected PV inverters as per CRS. We have the capacity to test equipment with a rating of up to 100 kW for BIS registration. Our laboratories have cutting-edge testing equipment to test products accurately in accordance with the BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme. Power converters and interconnected PV inverters are tested according to IS 16221, and for safety requirements according to IS 16169. Evaluations include criteria such as electrical, mechanical and fire safety requirements. TÜV Rheinland is dedicated to supporting the Indian government’s successful and rapidly growing compliance scheme in India. We have steadily expanded our testing infrastructure that operates 24/7 to cater to multiple projects from local as well as international manufacturers.

Our Global Market Access Services:

PV inverters and converters are critical components of PV power systems and the key to ensuring that those systems have long and stable life spans. These components must meet the related standards to perform safely and with a high level of efficiency, reliability, and applicability. TÜV Rheinland’s one-stop testing and certification services can improve the quality of components and facilitate access to global markets. We provide the widest coverage of market access for PV components with services for all target countries and can advise and guide customers when it comes to complying with requirements that differ from country to country. As an independent third-party service provider, TÜV Rheinland is staffed with numerous highly-qualified engineers becoming increasingly international in their approach with regard to their assistance during certification.
