TÜV Rheinland Japan Ltd. has announced that BP Center Yokohama, a body shop authorized by Yanase Automotive Systems Co., Ltd. (Head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Haruo Kida) will receive certification as being a car body repair and paint shop that is capable of repairing steel and aluminum car bodies, after their successful completion of a TÜV Rheinland audit in 2016. The audit was carried out by TÜV Rheinland Japan according to the “Platinum” audit standard, the highest standard for the certification of car body repair and paint shops. In Japan BP Center Yokohama is the first car body repair and paint shop certified based on the “Platinum” standard. The certificate is scheduled to be awarded on November 6, 2016, at the Sangi Festival*. In addition to BP Center Yokohama, TÜV Rheinland Japan will be carrying out an audit of additional eight body shops that are in the Yanase Automotive Systems across the nation, from Hokkaido to Kyushu.

TÜV Rheinland Japan provides a wide range of audits for the certification of car body repair and paint shops in Japan. The details of these audits were expanded with the addition of TÜV Rheinland Japan's own car bodywork checklist items to the TÜV Rheinland Group's list. This addition tailors the audits more closely to conditions in the Japanese car body repair market. The certification of car body repair and paint shops by TÜV Rheinland Japan is divided into two categories: “Platinum”, the highest TÜV Rheinland certification standard, and “Gold”, the second highest category.

The "Gold" certificate is awarded to a car body repair and paint shop that can provide a best-in-class level of repairs in Japan. The "Platinum" certificate is given to a best-in-class car body repair and paint shop based on German standards that meets all the audit requirements adopted in Germany, the provision of work bay and equipment that make it possible to repair large European cars, the establishment of an in-house management system for repair quality, and the implementation and recording of continuous employee training. Certification issued by a neutral, independent certification body demonstrates the high quality of repairs, helps improve the reliability of car body repair shops and increases customer satisfaction. TÜV Rheinland group offers audit, certification and consulting services to car body repair shops in Europe and other countries around the world.
