Achievement of the "Gold" standard, one of the highest TÜV Rheinland car body repair shop certification standards, affirms the high repair quality of the body shops

TÜV Rheinland Japan Ltd. has completed its 2016 audit of the 55 body shops authorized by BMW Japan Corp. and has certified 52 of them as satisfying the specified level, in the categories of “”steel body repairs” and “steel and aluminum body repairs”. Previously, 15 and 27 BMW Japan body shops were awarded certifications in 2014 and 2015 respectively. In 2016, the increase in the number of certified BMW Group-authorized body shops to 52 can be attributed to the continual improvement in the service performed at each shop.

All of these body shops have been awarded certificates based on the "Gold" standard, one of the highest TÜV Rheinland certification standards. The certification based on the "Gold" standard is awarded to a car body repair shop that can provide a very high level of repair quality.

TÜV Rheinland Japan began auditing BMW Group-authorized body shops in 2013. In 2014, the audits were enhanced by the inclusion of some check items from TÜV Rheinland Group's own car bodywork checklist items into the BMW Group checklist. This inclusion allows the audit to align closely to the regulatory requirements of the Japanese car body repair market. During the 2016 audit of BMW Group-authorized body shops, TÜV Rheinland Japan added more items from the latest version of the car body shop audit checklist used by TÜV Rheinland Headquarters in Germany to its car body shop audit checklist. Further, the audit also included a check for compliance with the requirements covered in the latest version of the relevant laws, including the Industrial Safety and Health Law and the Basic Environment Act.

A certification by an independent inspection agency is one of the most important benchmarks for measuring the quality of car body repair shops.

TÜV Rheinland Group provides audit and certification services as well as consulting services for car body repair shops in Europe and around the world.
