Successful SALEEM Program and SABER System Workshop organized by TÜV Rheinland in Association with SASO (Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization)

TÜV Rheinland Middle East organized a successful workshop for its clients to introduce the upcoming SALEEM Program which is going to replace the existing SASO COC program and update on SABER system in association with SASO.

On November 15th 2017, TÜV Rheinland Middle East organized a workshop at Al Gurair Hotel to update its clients and stakeholders in order to keep them up to date with the new changes going to take place in the Saudi Conformity System which is SALEEM a new Products and Shipments Safety Program introduced by SASO (Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization) replacing the existing SASO COC program to facilitate the Market Access of Products to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and ensure that only Compliant Products can be placed in the Market using one online hub - SABER - to simplify the certification process.

The workshop witnessed the attendance of 100+ existing and potential stakeholders and clients from various sectors such as logistics companies, manufactures, Authorized Representatives, Distributors, corporate organizations…etc who were invited by TUV Rheinland Middle East and TUV Rheinland Arabia Government Inspections and International Trade (S03 Business Field) teams who were organizing this occasion along with the presence of Eng. Mahdi Al-Qahtani Director of Registration of Conformity Assessment Bodies Department – SASO who has arrived from Saudi to present in this workshop.

The workshop kicked off with Mr. Fares Naouri’s presentation the Managing Director of TUV Rheinland Middle East and Regional Manager for Government Inspections and International Trade - IMEA welcoming the audience and giving an introduction about TUV Rheinland Group and its worldwide presence as well as the region along with the history behind its success and services it provides.

Following Mr. Naouri’s presentation, Eng. Mahdi Al-Qahtani Director of Registration of Conformity Assessment Bodies Department for SASO continued the workshop agenda and presented an Introduction of Technical System of Conformity Assessment in Saudi Arabia. In his presentation Mr. Qahtani gave an overview about SASO as a government organization, the corporate structure and services and procedures involved, along with the reasons why SASO introduced SALEEM Program.

Open Discussion  (2).jpgAfter a quick coffee break for the audience, Mr. Moath Awwad Operations Manager – Government Inspections & International Trade – TÜV Rheinland Arabia continued the workshop agenda by presenting SALEEM program, where he gave an Introduction on SALEEM in terms of scope, and the methodology to be followed in the system, as well he introduced SABER System which is a Web-based application to implement SALEEM Program in the aim to increase the know-how of the clients about the program and gave practical examples on how it could be used in for Saudi traders, also in his presentation he gave a detailed procedure explanation in order to resolve the challenges on the COC.

The final part of the workshop agenda was an open discussion session for customers to address their questions, remarks and recommendations to both TÜV Rheinland and SASO, the open discussion session was very insightful due to the several questions were raised by the guests and showed the importance of the workshop’s information to the attendees and attention was paid during it.

After the nearly two hours open discussion session the guests proceeded for launch and conducted 1 to 1 discussions with TÜV Rheinland team members and SASO representative.
